    Description

    Women's Embroidered Bonnet from Slovakia
    This bonnet is from a group of villages near Bzovik in southern Slovakia. Made of cream-colored cotton, it features on the back a wide bobbin-lace band backed with a red cotton panel to bring out the design. The front culminates in a cut-and-drawn square wrapped with orange and white threads in a geometric pattern. A fine bobbin-lace edging runs across the front to finish the bonnet. The bonnet has seen years of use, and has several small stains reflecting its history (see pictures).
    Measurements: 16" across at bottom by 7" tall.
    A rare example of the traditional embroidery of this part of the world!
